The Eyeopeners Kiwanis Club partnered with the Center for Family Outreach to host a Gingerbread House event and fundraiser for both organizations on December 16, 2017.
During the event, teams decorated over 30 gingerbread houses as part of a judged contest. There were first, second, and third place winners for five different categories that included best use of candy, best landscape, and best overall house.
While the Center for Family Outreach has been involved with this project for years, this is the first time the Eyeopeners Kiwanis Club has been involved in the fundraiser. The Center for Family Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, prevention and early intervention programming for youth and their families. They offer classes related to drug and alcohol addictions, anger and conflict management, improving life and social skills, and parent meetings related to adolescent development. They also offer prevention and intervention programs to those who need it.
Both groups were amazed at the success of the event and enjoyed how many kids came to help decorate the houses this year. We are looking forward to making the event even bigger in 2018!
